Design Challenge

Pragmatic AMC Management

Regulator Peer Review

THE CHALLENGE

The site had a long history as a former domestic landfill, and there were complex geo-environmental issues, including the susceptibility of flooding of parts of the site, and finished construction levels.  IKM was requested to undertake a detailed review of third party site investigation reports for the site of a new educational campus in Dumfries & Galloway.

The scope of work included a review of the following:
–  Human Health Risk Assessment
–  Cut and fill proposals
–  Waste classification of soils at the site
–  Remediation strategies recommended
–  Prepare a short report outlining our findings and suggestions, and recommend alternative techniques

THE SOLUTION

IKM undertook the above review and prepared a report detailing findings and thoughts.  This enabled IKM’s client to challenge the contractor’s proposals, ensuring best practice and best available technique without entailing excessive cost during this public sector project.
