THE CHALLENGE

IKM was requested by the client to undertake a geological survey and a preliminary contaminated land assessment at a former radar station.

A ground investigation scope of works was designed to allow an assessment of the chemical nature of the soils below the site. Trial pits were targeted based on the findings of the desk study and a preliminary CSM.

The aim was to identify potential environmental risks to inform negotiations for the purchase of the site.

THE SOLUTION

IKM assessed historical on site contamination and were able to highlight the potential risks for redevelopment, allowing the client to have a detailed understanding of the site.

IKM carried out a geological survey of the cliff, followed up with stereonet analysis, to determine the stability of the headland.

These assesments were then used to inform negotiations for the purchase of the site.
